You’ve always wanted to write your unique wedding vows. But something keeps you from doing so. Even if you wedding day is months away, if you want to deliver a unique wedding vow on that day, you have to start writing now. And try not to make a writer’s block or the fear of embarrassment to change your mind. It is quite simple to write a unique wedding vow. All you really need is a pen, a paper, and an open heart.
When it comes to unique wedding vows, it is not your mind that is going to do the talking. Your heart is supposed to take full control of the situation and put your pen into frenzy. Go to a secluded room and just pour your heart’s contents out. Weeks before your wedding day, you are surely feeling excited, elated, and a little scared about this milestone in your life. Write Your Own Unique Wedding Vows
If ever you do decide to write your own wedding vow, the first thing that you have to do is to ask the solemnizing officer if doing so is acceptable. In churches, more particularly for Catholics, wedding vows are not supposed to be altered. Or if needed be, the unique wedding vow you have written should be submitted to the priest days before the wedding day for approval.
Begin with an outline. Put all the things that you would like to say in a draft form. For example, you want to recount old memories on the first part of your vow then profess your love after, and finally, state all your promises to your partner. If you do it this way, you will be able to create the most complete and the most special wedding vow of all.
But then, remember to keep your unique wedding vows short. When you are done writing, recite the prose that you have just created and time yourself. If you went longer than a minute, try to take out a sentence or two. The most beautiful wedding vow is concise, simple, and short. Your guests will grow impatient if your wedding vow is taking too long.
Ask for the opinion of others. If you know of a wedding or marriage expert, especially if you know of somebody who creates wedding vows for a living, try to let them read what you have created so far. Consider their criticisms and edit your wedding vow to perfection. When every ideal word, phrase, and sentence in your unique wedding vows is in place, you know that your wedding day would certainly be the most special day not only of your life but also for every person who is present at the event.
